Along with your other classes, our class assignments will be posted on Canvas.
These assignments won't be as much fun as our planned trip to Universal Studios in Florida,🌴or even as exciting as the group experience of making music together.🎹🎷🎻 But, this does allow for some unique opportunities that we normally couldn't do in a classroom setting without a computer lab. I think that you'll enjoy these lessons/assignments. If you have any questions, email us. The Honors Wind Ensemble and Honors Orchestra will be performing in a special concert next week. Our set will include the Wind Ensemble setting of Eric Whitacre’s Goodnight Moon - World Premier. This is a beautiful work for Wind Ensemble and Soprano based on the famous children’s book. From the Composer: Over the first six years of his life, I must have read Goodnight Moon to my son a thousand times, maybe more. Somewhere around reading number 500 I began hearing little musical fragments as I read, and over time those fragments began to blossom into a simple, sweet lullaby. I knew it was a long shot, but I asked my manager, Claire Long, to contact HarperCollins and see if they would allow the text to be set to music. To my surprise and delight they agreed – the first time they had ever allowed Goodnight Moon to be used in such a way. Both High Point University and Ragsdale will feature Lindsay Kesselman as our soloist for the evening. Hailed by Fanfare Magazine as an “artist of growing reputation for her artistry and intelligence…with a voice of goddess-like splendor”
(read her bio) https://www.lindsaykesselman.com/biography The concert will be at High Point University Tuesday night at 7:30pm We will be in the Hayworth Fine Arts Center (number 2 on the map) http://www.highpoint.edu/campusmap/ Here are some photos from the last semester. For some reason my collage maker cut off the edges of the photos and not every important event or fun moment was captured, so if you have any good photos, please share! The Ragsdale Orchestra goes out to dinner and to see the Sphinx Virtuosi. We had our photo taken with conductor, Jesse Suggs and posed for a photo with the orchestra (that photo is missing because I don't know how to work a cell phone).
